Visiting a new church can feel intimidating. We hope the following questions and answers help you know what to expect when you visit First Baptist Church of Valentine.
What time does your service start?
On Sunday mornings, we offer:
- Adult Bible Study in the fellowship hall
- Children’s classes downstairs
- Youth classes for middle and high school students
All Bible Study classes begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude around 10:30 a.m.
Our Sunday morning Worship Service begins at 11:00 a.m. and ends around 12:00 p.m.
We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early. This allows time to meet others and get settled before Bible Study or Worship begins.
What about my kids?
During the 9:30 a.m. Bible Study hour, we offer:
- Nursery through 4th grade
- Middle school (5th–8th grade)
- High school (9th–12th grade)
During the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service, children and youth attend the service with their parents or guardians.
What should I wear?
Most of our members dress casually, but you are welcome to wear whatever makes you comfortable. On any given Sunday, you will see everything from jeans and shorts to suits and dresses.
What is a Worship Service like?
Our service begins with announcements, where you’ll hear about upcoming events, ministry updates, and prayer requests.
We then worship through song. Most people stand during this time, though you are welcome to remain seated if you prefer. Song lyrics are projected on screens for everyone to follow and participate. We sing a blend of traditional hymns and modern worship songs, all rooted in the truth of Scripture and centered on the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
Our worship gathering may also include prayer, Scripture reading, an offering, and updates about missions and ministry.
If you are a guest, please feel no obligation to give during the offering. This time is primarily for those who consider First Baptist Church of Valentine their church home.
The service concludes with our pastor preaching from God’s Word.
On the first Sunday of each month, we observe the Lord’s Supper.
